OBJECTIVES AND TARGET AUDIENCE
“Illuminated Manuscripts Hub” is integrated in the Digilab-IT platform, the Italian node of the European Infrastructure for Heritage Science (E-RIHS), financed by the PNRR H2IOSC project.
SCOPE
Main scope is to develop an advanced approach to the study and representation of illuminated manuscripts based on the integration of semantically linked heterogeneous and interdisciplinary data relating to its various elements, including both material and symbolic values. It focuses on historical-artistic, iconography, materials, execution techniques, and state of conservation referred to the decorative apparatus and to the manuscript structure.
The purpose is not only archiving but to offer interactive and rich experiences to its users.
TARGET AUDIENCE
The main target is the scientific community of library curators, researchers, scholars, and students which are provided with an integrated digital environment offering enhanced services, visualisation and analytic tools aiming at:
- improving the interaction and the understanding of illuminated manuscript
- creating new structured collections of datasets and interdisciplinary contents, compliant with a dedicated ontology.
ACCESS
The pilot can be accessed as common user, for consultation purposes only, or as editor, for the integration of new content or modification of existing ones. Any kind of content, 2D digitisations, 3D models, texts, multimedia, annotations can be added and integrated in the pilot by the research community, using the database structure, services and interfaces offered by Digilab, as long as they respect the technical and interoperability requirements.
