What is «Illuminated Manuscripts Hub»?
"Illuminated Manuscripts Hub" is is an interdisciplinary digital environent offering innovative services, tools, maps, and virtual reality environments to deepen the knowledge of ancient illuminated manuscripts.
It introduces a multidisciplinary approach that goes beyond the structure and content of traditional catalogues and simple 2D digitizations.
It provides an interactive and dynamic experience within a unified digital environment that integrates information on decorations, texts, structure, execution techniques, materials, and state of conservation.
The platform is intended for the scientific community and uses interoperable open-source formats and frameworks, such as IIIF and ATON.
Highlights
Interdisciplinary approach to the study and representation of illuminated manuscripts.
Integration of both visible and invisible features into the virtual annotated model.
User studies aimed at integrating the needs of researchers with different skill sets.
Multimodal visualization and augmented perception tools for analysis and interpretation using 3D and 2D representations, along with a knowledge graph to enhance semantic relationships.
Access to the pilot available either as a basic user or as an editor, enabling content creation, editing, and annotation of images and virtual models.
